Ectomorphs will often turn into endomorphic ectomorphs (ectomorphs prone to fat gain) with age, as even their super fast metabolism slows down as they get older. ![]() ![]() Most ectomorphs are not “pure” ectomorphs, but a combination of two body types. You sound like you are an ectomorph (small frame, lack muscle mass) that is prone to some weight gain. I hope that made sense! Now, here is my question (finally!), I struggled throughout my teens and well into my 20’s with an eating disorder, and my weight has fluctuated up to 12kg about 4 times. You can’t compare this persons weight when in shape with an out-of-shape ectomorph whose skeleton is slight and at the best of times carries little muscle mass. For example, a mesomorph tends to be medium or large framed and also carries a good amount of muscle mass. Rating scales such as the body mass index, do not take the size of your frame into account, which means that is lacks accuracy in determining whether or not you fall within a healthy weight range.
